Our therapeutical approach
Our therapeutical approach

From the day of his arrival we prepare the patient for his departure.

The principles which govern our method are the same, whatever the disorder that led to hospitalisation may be.

In this respect, it is federating for all our practices.

Understanding:

Upon his day of arrival the patient is seen by a doctor who makes a diagnosis of the illness. He collects the information transmitted and may ask friends and family questions if authorisation has been given by the patient and get in touch with the general practitioner.

No single doctor takes charge of the patient in the Clinique du Château de Garches where work is carried out on a team basis even though each patient has his designated doctor who he will see daily.  The validity of the therapeutical method concerning each patient is assessed in consensus with other doctors. This collegiality, whilst respecting confidentiality, reinforces the quality and the efficiency of the proposed treatment. For the patient, it is a guarantee of safety. For the care team, it is an essential way of helping to share information.  It is also a source of permanent learning and progress.

Involvement:

Treatment is conceived by the doctor and patient couple.

Nothing may be done without the patient’s agreement.

Therapy is undertaken in an active manner with the patient’s participation and the accompaniment of the medical teams.

The desire to make the patient the instrument of his own change so he may get over suffering from his illness, is shared with each member of the care team who is fully involved in this project.

Alongside the healing team is the intervention of other participants

  • Who help to retrieve a better bodily harmony (psycho-motricity, relaxation),
  • Who maintain cognitive stimulation (computer workshop),
  • Who enhance creativity (therapeutical art workshop).

Action:

From day one, the objective is to prepare the patients departure and return to working life.  In this perspective, the treatment comprises several phases:

  •  Immediate response to suffering,
  • Means to limit the negative consequences of the illness on the personal, professional and family life of the patient,
  • Measures to be taken to avoid relapse and repetitions and limit the complications which may constitute a true handicap.
